Job summary

Birch Hill Primary School, part of Maiden Erlegh Trust, is seeking a Lunchtime Controller to supervise pupils at lunch break and promote safety and positive play. You will help create an inclusive, caring environment and support children across year groups during lunchtime activities.

The role requires reliability, good communication, and the ability to work with children of varying ages, including those with additional needs. Term-time hours, with some flexibility, are offered.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

About This Role

Birch Hill Primary School is seeking a caring, reliable, and enthusiastic Lunchtime Controller to join our dedicated team. This vital role involves supervising children - across all year groups - during the lunch break, ensuring their safety and wellbeing, and promoting positive behaviour and play. As a Lunchtime Controller, you will help create a happy and inclusive environment where children feel supported and encouraged. If you enjoy working with children and want to make a meaningful contribution to their school experience, we would love to hear from you.

The Successful Candidate Will Be
  • hard working and committed and will be able to inspire, motivate and encourage children at all levels
  • able to monitor the children's activities prior to, during and after lunch to minimise the risks to themselves or others
  • will take an active part in promoting the values of the school during the lunch hour so that social, emotional, and educational learning is promoted
  • able to ensure that the lunchtime provision offers children a variety of stimulating learning through facilitating games, clubs, and activities
  • will ensure that all accidents are recorded in the accident book and reported to the teacher/s in order that any appropriate action may be taken.
  • able to observe Health and Safety regulations relating to the school at all times, including first aid

About Birch Hill Primary School

We are a two-form entry community school serving the Birch Hill and Hanworth districts of Bracknell Forest. In addition to the main school, we offer a nursery and a Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) catering for children with ASD and MLD. We can accommodate 420 children, plus 26 spaces in our nursery, which offers flexible 30 hours a week. The school is organised into two Key Stages - EYFS/ KS1 and KS2.

We set high standards of work and achieve this through providing a curriculum that also develops children's belief that they can achieve their highest aspiration, while working closely with parents and the whole community.
