Lunchtime Assistant


£4,097.20 per annum (£13.17 p/h), Haywards Heath (outskirts), Monday to Friday, 11:50 am - 1:40 pm (9.15 hours per week), Term Time only (34 weeks), permanent. Access to a range of benefits including holiday pay, pension and use of the facilities and grounds.


The Role


We are looking for a Lunchtime Assistant to support young children during their lunchtime routine in a warm and friendly early years setting. This role involves creating a calm and enjoyable mealtime experience, encouraging children to eat well, and engaging them in fun and interactive play afterwards. You will be part of a supportive team dedicated to ensuring children feel happy, safe, and cared for throughout their lunchtime.


Key responsibilities include:


  • Supporting children aged 2½ - 7 years during lunchtime, ensuring a happy and relaxed mealtime.
  • Encouraging children to eat a variety of foods and develop good table manners.
  • Providing a caring and supportive presence to help children feel comfortable and secure.
  • Engaging with children in play-based activities after lunch, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Ensuring a safe and positive environment that supports the children's development and well-being.

Requirements


The ideal candidate will have experience working with young children and a caring, patient nature. A genuine passion for supporting early childhood development is essential. The ability to interact positively with children and encourage social skills through play is highly desirable. You will also consent to a DBS check and must have your own method of transport due to rural location.


This role could suit someone who has worked as a Nursery Assistant, Teaching Assistant, or Playgroup Supervisor.
