Job summary

Henley Day Nursery in Henley-on-Thames is seeking an Early Years Assistant to provide lunchtime cover. You will help create a safe, calm and positive environment where children can enjoy their meals and social time.

The role is a fixed term, casual lunchtime position from 11am to 3pm, Monday to Friday, supporting staff, supervising children's safety and helping with eating and basic personal care as required.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young children (0–5 years) desirable.
• A Level 2 or 3 Early Years qualification is beneficial but not essential.
• Caring, patient and approachable manner.
• Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Support children during lunchtime, encouraging good eating habits and independence.
• Supervise and ensure children’s safety at all times.
• Help with setting up and clearing away lunch areas.
• Assist with children’s personal care needs, including toileting where required.
• Promote positive behaviour and social interaction.
• Maintain a clean and hygienic environment in line with nursery policies.
• Follow safeguarding, health & safety, and food hygiene procedures at all times.
