Overview

LTO EA Level D – Extended Day Before School – 10 hrs/wk Sandowne

This posting is open to WRDSB employees who are members of the EA Association as well as external applicants. Staff already in an LTO are not eligible to apply to this posting if it will conflict with their current LTO. All Long Term Occasional assignments are subject to a revised end date with 2-weeks notice. Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) serves approximately 65,000 students in 123 schools, as well as alternative and continuing education sites. Qualifications
  • Educational Assistant Qualifications include one of the following from an accredited post-secondary institution: Certified Teachers Educational Assistant Diploma or Educational Support Diploma; Developmental Service Worker (DSW); Bachelor of Social Work (BSW); Social Services Diploma (SSW).
  • Alternative EA Qualifications with Experience may be considered, including combinations of post-secondary degrees or diplomas in child-related disciplines with a minimum of 1,224 hours of related work experience directly supporting special needs children, or significant relevant volunteer experience in lieu of work hours.
  • A valid Behaviour Management Systems certification is preferred; proven ability and recent experience working with students with special needs and behavioural disabilities is strongly preferred; school-based experience and Autism Spectrum Disorder Training are assets.
  • A requirement to pass a Physical Demands test for employment as an EA/CYW with the WRDSB (where applicable to roles without permanent/LTO level D hours).

Under staff screening and police record checks; employees in licensed child care programs are required to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check on or before every fifth anniversary after the date of the most recent check, and to complete an annual offence declaration. Educators in Before/After School Programs must complete a VSC request and provide the original electronic copy for review. Valid first aid and CPR certification or active training update within the year is required.
