Job summary

Educators Connected Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Learning Support Assistant for a PRU in Hemel Hempstead to start asap. You will support pupils with behavioural and emotional needs in a structured educational setting, working alongside teachers.

You'll work one-to-one or with small groups, help with learning activities, nurture SEMH pupils, and contribute to a calm, safe classroom. A DBS Update Service is preferred and adaptability is essential.

Qualifications

  • DBS Update Service preferred.
  • Experience with children/young people with behavioural needs SEMH or PRU desirable.
  • Calm, patient and resilient with strong behaviour management.
  • Ability to build rapport quickly while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexible attitude and commitment to supporting students facing barriers to education.

Learning Support Assistant - PRU - Hemel Hempstead

We are currently seeking strong, resilient, and dedicated Learning Support Assistants to join a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Hemel Hempstead, starting as soon as possible. This is a full-time opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people who require additional behavioural and emotional support within a structured and supportive educational setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tailored support to teachers in delivering lessons and managing classroom activities.
  • Work one-to-one or with small groups of pupils to support their learning, emotional regulation, and engagement.
  • Build positive relationships with students who may display challenging behaviour or have social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
  • Support behaviour management strategies and help maintain a calm, safe, and productive learning environment.
  • Assist in preparing and adapting learning materials to meet individual student needs.
  • Encourage pupils' confidence, independence, and personal development.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff where appropriate.
Requirements
  • A valid DBS check on the Update Service is preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with behavioural needs, SEMH, or within alternative provisions/PRUs is highly desirable.
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach with strong behaviour management skills.
  • The ability to build rapport quickly and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A flexible attitude and commitment to supporting students who may have faced barriers to education.
