Job description

Position Summary

Princeton Baptist Hospital has been serving the central Alabama community for over 100 years. Summary

Provides and documents individualized patient care, including patient evaluation, education, medication administration, IV therapy, treatments, and patient safety as directed by the RN or provider.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
  • Demonstrates competency in advanced practical nursing skills and use of patient care/unit equipment as defined by unit-specific requisite skills.
  • Communicates appropriate information regarding the patient’s condition to the RN and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Assists RN or provider during examinations and procedures.
  • Documents patient data and patient education according to Orlando Health and department-specific guidelines.
  • Able to perform triage functions, including assessing the patient and determining the next step in care, working in collaboration as directed by the department nursing team or provider(s).
  • Appropriately administers oral and injectable medications or immunizations per LPN scope and as directed by a provider.
  • Maintains a safe and caring environment for both patient and family.
  • Assumes an active role in keeping informed about changes in hospital policy, procedures, and equipment.
  • Participates in nursing PI activities as assigned.
  • Demonstrates awareness of legal issues, patient rights, and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies.
  • Provides care appropriate to the age of the patient served on the assigned unit, with the knowledge and skills necessary for age-specific needs.
  • Assesses data reflective of the patient’s status and interprets the necessary information to identify each patient’s requirements relative to their age-specific needs and provides the needed care following policies and procedures.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Baptist Health and Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other standards.
  • Ensures compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
  • Contributes to the department’s effectiveness by reporting to duty on time, adhering to policies concerning breaks and lunch, and completing duties efficiently and effectively.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development over the lifespan.
  • Practices efficient use of supplies.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and organized unit.
Qualifications
Education/Training:

LPN Nursing School Graduate. Successful completion of a 30-hour approved IV therapy course within 30 days of hire for inpatient/SNF only.

Licensure/Certification:

Current nursing license in the State of Alabama. Maintains current BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
