Job summary

Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for an enthusiastic lower limb arthroplasty surgeon to join the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead. This substantive post offers involvement in primary hip and knee replacements and trauma care within a busy orthopaedic department.

The successful candidate will hold FRCS (Tr & Orth) or equivalent, have GMC registration, and demonstrate teaching experience with a track record in multidisciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

• Full GMC registration and eligibility to practice in the UK.
• FRCS (Tr & Orth) or an equivalent level qualification.
• Evidence of teaching and training of postgraduate and undergraduate staff.
• Specialised training within Trauma & Orthopaedics (T&O).

Responsibilities

• Address demand for lower limb arthroplasty and trauma cover.
• Perform primary lower limb arthroplasty procedures as trained (hip/knee/unicondylar replacements).
• Participate in day case procedures and GIRFT-aligned efficiencies.
• Willingness to take on on-call rotas (1:2/1:3 weekdays, 1:10 weekends).
