Responsibilities

What you'll be challenged to do:

Gannett Fleming TranSystems is looking for a Low Voltage Designer. Our engineers enjoy working on a diverse range of projects in a variety of sectors, including schools, military, healthcare, municipal, institutional, commercial, and multi-family residential.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design various building and site low voltage systems, including:
  • Telecommunications (fiber optic and category cable systems)
  • Electronic Security Systems (Intrusion Alarm, Access Control, CCTV)
  • Audio-Visual Systems (both simple and complex)
  • Intercom, Public Address, DAS and others
  • Create plans and 3-D models for integration into an overall team design.
  • Coordinate, layout and specify each system type.
  • Provide design documents in AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam.
  • Attend meetings with the project team, including architects and other disciplines.
  • Ensure design complies with codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Prepare documentation for permit applications and agency review.
  • Perform site visits during design and construction.

Qualifications

What you bring to our firm:

  • Experience in the design and/or installation of low voltage systems
  • Detailed knowledge of at least one of the low voltage systems noted above
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Authorization to work in the United States (required)
  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

What we’d prefer for you to bring to our firm:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or
  • 2 years of direct experience designing low voltage systems (shop drawings), or
  • 4 years of system installation experience
  • Experience with Revit MEP, AutoCad, Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred

This compensation range is specific to the State of and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; internal peer equity; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $69,000 - $103,000 annually.
