Job summary

Citigroup seeks a senior Low Latency Java Engineer to join the London High Performance Architectures team. The role focuses on building low-latency Java/Rust based systems, including event-sourcing microservices and market data processing, within a globally connected finance environment.

You will contribute to algorithmic trading platforms, mentor developers, and collaborate with senior leadership while enjoying a hybrid work model with potential home days.

Qualifications

• SME in applications development.
• Experience with algorithmic trading development in low latency environments.
• Market data handling and time-series databases (e.g. KDB).
• Strong leadership, project management and development skills.
• Proficiency in Java, the JVM, Linux, system calls and kernel.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP networking and kernel bypass (Solarflare OpenOnload).
• Ability to design and implement high-quality, scalable Java microservices.

Responsibilities

• 90% hands in the Java or Rust codebase; build microservices-based event-sourcing systems with low latency.
• Lead integration of functions to meet goals, deploy new products, and enhance processes.
• Analyse complex business and system processes to define solutions to high-level problems.
• Provide world-class expertise in Java low-latency development.
• Utilise knowledge of supported main system flows to achieve technology goals.
• Consult with end users to identify function specifications and incorporate into design.
• Influence and negotiate with senior leaders and external parties.
• Mentor junior developers and less experienced senior Java developers.
