Job description

In line with our 5 year organisational strategy to achieve our vision that “Together, we will deliver the best care when you need us most”, SWAST made a promise to the population of the South West of England that “Everyone will benefit from our improved infrastructure, enhanced digital tools and data insights, and our organisation will be recognised as a great place to work”. We believe that automation makes a substantial contribution to fulfilling this promise by improving our corporate and clinical processes to relieve our staff from repetitive manual work.

We have invested in 2 platforms for low-code automation development – Microsoft Power Platform and SS&C Blue Prism. This role will work closely with business analysts to develop automated processes and custom apps using these platforms and maintain the existing deployments.

The post holder will keep pace with the accelerating capability of Artificial Intelligence and its contribution to automation, advising organisational stakeholders on the technologies, approaches and processes that could further enhance the Trust.

  • Develop, optimise and automate workflows and business processes aligned to business requirements using automation technologies, such as Blue Prism and Power Automate.
  • Deliver cost-effective and efficient automations with regards to licence costs and compute resources.
  • Continuously monitor the automation environments assessing performance and proactively identifying and addressing potential issues or bottlenecks.
  • Develop, build, test and deploy custom business applications to solve business challenges and enhance productivity.
  • Integrate and customise SharePoint solutions to support business collaboration, document management, data capture, and process automation.
  • Following the business analysis phase, advise on the opportunities for workflow automation, and the optimal technical approach or solution.
  • Extract data from a variety of internal sources to support the automation projects and consider the impact of data quality, information governance and GDPR.
  • Work closely with our external suppliers, data engineers, database administrator, and internal DDaT teams to ensure data integrity, performance and security.
  • Support end users by providing training and on-going technical assistance for Blue Prism, Power Apps, Power Automate, and SharePoint.
  • Design action plans based on detailed knowledge, data gathering and analysis in collaboration with key stakeholders and technical teams.

Working for us is an experience like no other. We provide emergency and urgent care, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, operating across the largest ambulance region in England and responding to an average of 2,650 incidents every day.

We remain committed to ensuring that we provide the best possible care for all our patients, which is reflected in our five year strategy which has continually improving patient care at its very core.

The role is based in either Exeter or Bristol.

If you embody our values of one team, compassionate and innovative and are looking to make a real difference to peoples’ lives, then we would love to hear from you.

In return we will equip you with the skills and resources you need to thrive in your role.
