A leading healthcare organization is recruiting a Practice Development Practitioner in Leicester. The role involves leading training in palliative care and supporting staff in enhancing their skills. Candidates should be Registered Nurses with teaching qualifications and demonstrate strong leadership abilities. Weare currently recruiting a Practice Development Practitioner to work in theHospice and across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
Thesuccessful candidate will facilitate learning through leading, co-ordinating,delivering and training short courses and study days with a particular emphasison palliative, end of life care and communication skills.
Youwill also support clinical staff to develop academic, mentoring and coachingskills; help to address the educational requirements of practice as identifiedby line manager, Heads of Department, team leaders and Educators.
LOROS Hospiceis a local charity and every year we care for over 2,500 people acrossLeicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. We deliver free, high-quality,compassionate care and support to terminally ill patients, their family andcarers.
1.To promote high quality, holistic, individualised endof life care by identifying and developing the skills and knowledge of Registeredprofessionals within LOROS and the wider Health Community to ensure bestpractice and high-quality services to all patients at lifes end.
2.Maintain anidentifiable clinical presence in LOROS and undertake relevant clinicalactivities to maintain own clinical competency and to support staff indeveloping clinical practice.
3.Undertake teachingand training in a wide range of educational settings (Universities, FE Colleges& Schools) to promote high-quality, person-centred care associated withpalliative and end of life care needs
4.Undertake teachingand training in health care settings (Nursing Homes, Care Homes, GP Practices,other Charity settings including Hospices) to promote high-quality,person-centred care associated with palliative and end of life care needs
5.Undertakeevaluation and quality assurance / improvement cycles associated witheducation, training and development activities
6.To workautonomously within the recognised boundaries of the remit of the post holdersprofessional registration and organisational policy.
7.Contribute toresearch activities within LOROS under the supervision of the Research Manager
8.To work incollaboration with the Education Delivery team to ensure a unified approach tomeeting the educational and developmental needs of Registered Nurses, AlliedHealth Professionals, Healthcare Assistants and Clinical Apprentices withinLOROS.
9.Liaise with line manager, Heads of Department, teamleaders and Educators, to identify the development and training needs of theRegistered Nurses, allied Health Professionals, HealthcareAssistants and Clinical Apprentices.
10. Incollaboration with the Education Team contribute to the development anddelivery of in-service training and development programmes within LOROS and theLeicester, Leicestershire & Rutland health and care community.
11. Tomaintain own personal professional development and act in accordance with theirrecognised professional bodys code of conduct (e.g., NMC or HCPC).
12. To promotea reflective learning environment where individuals evaluate and deliver carebased on evidence and best practice and supports revalidation where relevant.
13. To work incollaboration with Team Leaders to ensure the effective induction,preceptorship and mentoring of all new Registered Nurses and Allied HealthProfessionals.
14. To assessall new Registered Nurses and Allied Health Professionals clinical competenciesto maximize potential in the workforce.
15. To assistin the development and review of relevant clinical guidelines and policies.
16. Tocontinue with the implementation and progression of the Competency Framework.
17. Toencourage a climate of confidence by acting as a change agent facilitating anenvironment of openness and questioning, using a coaching approach.
18. Provideleadership, clinical support and practice development, acting as a role modeland focusing on competencies, service improvement, communication, improvedco-ordination, reflective practice, coaching, action learning and continuingprofessional development.
19. To attendrelevant meetings and provide reports reflecting the progress and developmentof clinical staff development.
20. Engender aculture of safe practice by promoting staff adherence to policies/ proceduresto minimise risk to patients, staff and others.
21. Promoteand enhance evidence-based practice and ensure that a learning environmentbased on the principles of lifelong learning and training/education isfostered.
22. Maintainawareness of current developments in end-of-life care and the implications thatthey may have on educational programmes.
23. Participatein evaluation and audit in order to monitor effectiveness and impact oflearning on practice.
24. Liaisewith key stakeholders to ensure a collaborative approach is taken to educationand development which avoids duplication and promotes activities which buildupon current provision.
25. Tocontribute to the planning/delivery of mandatory, clinical skills and essentialfor role training within LOROS.
26. Share thevision and priorities to promote and market LOROS education and researchactivities
