Job description

Reports to : Training Manager / Training Administration Coordinator

Employment type : Casual

The Australian Vietnamese Women’s Association Inc. (AVWA) is a registered training organisation providing vocational training and English programs to students in Melbourne Metropolitan regions. Due to rapid growth, AVWA is looking for qualified and experienced trainers to deliver one of the following qualifications :

  • 22638VIC Certificate I in English as an Additional Language (EAL) (Access)
  • 22642VIC Certificate II in English as an Additional Language (EAL) (Employment)

This role aims to provide high-quality, professional, culturally responsive training and assessment services by planning, developing, delivering, and reviewing training and assessment in line with the AQTF Essential Standards & Conditions for Continuing Registration, VRQA Guidelines for VET Providers, and the RTO policy and procedures.

What we are looking for :

  • Prepare / print learning material and assessment tools of upcoming units according to the course’s timetable.
  • Understand the business process (pre-training review) and communicate with administration officers or enrolment officers to develop training plans to meet each student’s needs prior to the commencement of training.
  • Monitor students’ learning progress and constantly communicate and report the students’ learning progress to the training administration officers.
  • Mentor and support students during the course.
  • Conduct training and assessment for each student or group of students, mark assessments, and / or visit & assess students in the workplace (where required).
  • Treat students with respect, dignity, and be responsive to their diverse needs.
  • Ensure that training and assessment is consistent with AQTF Essential Standards & Conditions for Continuing Registration, VRQA Guidelines for VET Providers, and the RTO policy and procedures.
  • Participate in assessment validation and moderation, and attend meetings when required.
  • Assess, record, and report qualification completion to the administration officers as soon as practicable after students successfully complete activities in the Training Plan.
  • Be available at audits upon request.

The above lists are not exhaustive and the role may change to meet the overall objectives of AVWA.

Any other relevant duties as reasonably required by the Training Manager.

Who you are :

  • Current industry skills directly relevant to the training and assessment being provided.
  • Current knowledge and skills in vocational training and learning that informs their training and assessment.
  • If a trainer wants to deliver EAL courses (cert 1 to 4), they must hold one of the appropriate qualifications below but are not limited to :
  • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and one of the following :

A four-year Bachelor of Education, with TESOL as a method

An Undergraduate bachelor's degree plus a postgraduate TESOL qualification at AQF8 or above, such as :

  • Graduate Certificate in Education (TESOL)
  • Graduate Certificate in TESOL
  • Graduate Diploma in TESOL
  • Graduate Diploma in Education with TESOL method
  • Master of TESOL / Master of Applied Linguistics / Master of Arts (TESOL)
  • Master of Teaching with TESOL method

Candidate must understand and follow Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) Conditions and Standards as well as Victorian Registration and Qualification Authority (VRQA) Guidelines.
