LTS Math Teacher position available at the high school for the second semester of the 25-26 school year. Hours will be 7:09-2:41pm.

TITLE: High School Teacher

CATEGORY: Professional Staff

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

JOB SUMMARY: Plans, organizes, controls and directs the classroom to provide an educational program for pupils in grades 9 through 12

Qualifications

  • Possesses Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Possesses valid Pennsylvania teaching certificate and Highly Qualified status in required subject area
  • Assures compliance with Employment Eligibility through Criminal History Records, Pre-Employment Drug Testing and Physical Examination/TB Test Standard
  • Possesses proficiency in the English language, with strong oral and written communication skills
  • Possesses ability to deal courteously and tactfully with school personnel and the public
  • Possesses ability to operate a computer, all software, and other office equipment as assigned
  • Possesses ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative and effective working relationships with others
  • Possesses valid driver’s license if position requires travel around district
  • KNOWLEDGE OF:
  • Current trends and research concerning the growth and development of secondary students
  • Data analysis, targeting instruction, and intervention services
  • Applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures

Primary Job Functions

The position holder must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. It is the responsibility of the employee to inform the District of any and all reasonable accommodations that will be required.

  • Teaches designated subject matter and other appropriate learning activities utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Education; instructs pupils in designated subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the educational organization
  • Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom; supports and assists in maintaining district discipline policy and the site discipline plan; develops self-discipline, responsibility and leadership skills in the students
  • Analyzes school and individualized student data
  • Distributes, collects and grades instructional materials, homework and tests; determines student grades and forwards to appropriate personnel
  • Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils manage health, behavioral, social, and learning problems
  • Participates in assessment and development activities, student supervision and control, and staff, parent, department and organizational meetings
  • Conducts instruction based on the written and Board approved curriculum
  • Adheres to the Pennsylvania Professional Standards and Practices Commission Code of Conduct
  • Assesses student academic progress; communicates student progress to parents through progress reports and report cards each grading period or in case of unsatisfactory work or other instructional issues
  • Provides instruction to students with special needs in accordance with IEP, utilizing support services as required; participates in IEP meetings as appropriate
  • Provides planned learning experiences in order to motivate students and best utilize the available time for instruction; identifies and adjusts instructional objectives in terms of student need using grade level standards and assessments
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials in accordance with site and organizational policy to provide individualized and small group, as well as whole group, instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil; develops specific plans for substitutes as necessary
  • Creates lesson plans that comply with PA Core Standards and/or PA Academic Standards
  • Creates a classroom environment which is conducive for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers and which includes models of high standards and expectations for student work
  • Promotes School-Wide Positive Behavior Support (SWPBS)
  • Administers multiple-measure assessment tests in accordance with the testing program
  • Maintains regular and timely attendance

Secondary Job Functions

  • Represents the assigned organization and school or program to local and State groups as assigned, maintaining a positive and professional image; interacts with outside agencies as necessary
  • Maintains professional competence through staff development activities and/or selfselected professional growth activities
  • Administers to the health needs of students, as needed
  • Supervises pupils in outofclassroom activities during the assigned working day
  • Participates in meetings, conferences and in-services as assigned
  • Performs related duties as assigned
