Job summary

Gowling WLG in London offers a two-week summer Vacation Scheme for penultimate-year law students, final-year non-law graduates, and post-graduates. You’ll gain first-hand insight into our work and culture, meet our people and clients, and receive guidance from a dedicated supervisor and trainee mentor.

The scheme aligns with Discover Gowling WLG sector series (8 Oct–5 Nov 2026) and can lead to a Training Contract. Applications close 18 November 2026 for the 2027 session (21 Jun–2 Jul 2027).

Job description

A Vacation Scheme is the perfect opportunity to get to know us and find out whether we're the right firm for you.

We offer a summer Vacation Scheme in our London office, for students in their penultimate year of a law degree, final year of a non-law degree, graduates, or post-graduates of any kind.

You’ll experience life at an international law firm first-hand, meet our people and clients, and gain an insight into our work and culture. One of our current trainees will help you settle in and is on hand to answer any queries you may have. You’ll have a dedicated supervisor who will ensure you receive quality work, support and constructive feedback. There will also be plenty of social events to help you network and build up professional relationships (while enjoying yourself too, of course).

We will be running our virtual Discover Gowling WLG: Sector Series from 8 October to 5 November 2026. The series provides an opportunity to hear directly from our lawyers and trainees and learn about our sector focus.

Applications close on Wednesday 18 November 2026.

The scheme will run in the summer of 2027 from Monday 21 June - Friday 2 July 2027. Please ensure you are able to make these dates and attend the full two weeks in the London office before applying.

Please note, candidates who are successful in obtaining a Vacation Scheme will be assessed for a Training Contract position at the end of the scheme.
