Job summary

Build Recruitment Limited is seeking a professional Mechanical Shift Engineer for a high‑profile corporate building in central London. Based at a prestigious law firm, you will maintain all mechanical systems, respond to faults, and uphold high standards of presentation and service.

The role covers planned and reactive maintenance, working 4 on, 4 off (7am–7pm) on-site, with DBS required and a strong emphasis on safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering / Building Services.
• Strong experience in commercial building maintenance (corporate or critical sites).
• Knowledge of HVAC systems, pumps, valves and air handling units.
• Ability to work independently and respond to reactive tasks.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Presentable appearance for a professional corporate environment.
• Basic DBS check required prior to start.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance across the site.
• Respond quickly to faults and equipment breakdowns.
• Maintain plant room equipment including pumps, AHUs, FCUs, and valves.
• Perform temperature and pressure checks, system monitoring and adjustments.
• Support compliance activities including record keeping and statutory inspections.
• Collaborate with the M&E team and client representatives.
• Uphold high presentation and professionalism in a corporate environment.
