JDR Recruitment are recruiting a Warehouse / Logistics Operative for a manufacturing company based in Hindley, Wigan. Under the guidance of Logistics Team Leader you will ensure storage, packing, despatch and stock accuracy using Navision.

The shift pattern covers 38 hours weekly with early and afternoon shifts. Pay starts at £14.41 per hour on the early shift, with enhanced rate on the afternoon shift and overtime benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure sufficient and safe storage of all materials in finished goods warehouse.
  • Carry out housekeeping tasks and pick, pack and organise orders for customers, including processing on Navision and necessary paperwork/labels.
  • Ensure all orders are despatched in a timely manner and maintain stock accuracy in Navision.

JDR Recruitment are recruiting for a Warehouse / Logistics Operative for a manufacturing company based in Hindley, Wigan

Under guidance of Logistics Team Leader will:
  • Ensure sufficient and safe storage of all materials in finished goods warehouse.
  • Carry out any necessary housekeeping tasks.
  • Pick, pack and organise orders for customers, including processing on Navision and of any necessary paperwork / labels.
  • Ensure all orders are despatched in a timely manner.
  • Perform all necessary processes, whether manual or electronic, to ensure accuracy of stock and invoicing.
  • Deal with any enquiries into the department in an efficient and professional manner.
  • Load and unload production from dedicated carrier's vehicles & vendors delivery companies including suppliers of Bought-In Finished Goods and customer returns. Check the detail - quality / quantity of all goods received and process on Navision.
General Responsibilities: -
Health & Safety
  • Wear appropriate PPE
  • Ensure conduct oneself in a manner that is safe for self and others.
  • Participate in H&S discussions and activities as appropriate.
  • Competent and safe use of all mechanical handling equipment, including Counterbalance, Reach &'Flexi FLT in accordance with company procedures and Health and Safety instructions.
  • Maintain a safe working environment through good housekeeping and awareness of potential hazards associated with work activities.
  • Work to the Carriage of Dangerous Goods legislation to ensure all dangerous Goods pallets and vehicles are clearly marked, segregation rules applied where required and the appropriate documentation is used.
  • Report incidents and accidents promptly and accurately.
  • Suggest improvements to maintain a safe working environment
  • Safety and security of visiting drivers
Quality
  • Follow appropriate procedures / processes;
  • Monitor work quality and reports problems
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and resolution of issues.
  • Be fully conversant with the Company's Quality policy, quality manual, detailed procedures, work instructions and similar documentation as applicable to your areas of responsibility.
  • Understand fully, item batch coding and identification terminology to be able to select correct type and quantity of product for processing against Works/Sales order requirements.
  • Understand inventory and stock management system. Maintain correct stock rotation, placement and management of inventory both physically and through appropriate stock management software (Navision).
  • Accurate documentation and recording of relevant product information and batch details collected during the course of daily work activities. Accurate input of data relating to order picking and freight despatch
Work Team Responsibilities
  • Support other team members as required
  • Work within team as required - marshalling materials, resources, planning and executing work in a timely well organised manner to accommodate warehouse delivery/despatch imperatives and other notified and agreed deadlines as directed by the Warehouse & Operations Manager or deputy.
  • Undertake all assigned tasks as directed efficiently, consistently with speed and error free work.
  • Use initiative and skills and be persistent and tenacious in order to achieve 'best practice' at all times.
  • Prompt an effective verbal (and, where required written) communication internally at all levels within the company in a personable and professional manner.
  • When working without a team leader - answer all phone calls promptly, professionally and assist any queries external departments may have.
  • Effectively meet and deal with the needs and requirements of customers, supplier and haulier personnel as a representative of the company having regard to commercial considerations and confidences.
  • Resolve operational issues in a timely and professional manner with immediate team and colleagues within the business needs of the company.
  • Suggest ideas and proposals for improvements to warehouse operations and activities.
  • Always endeavour to solve work problems in a logical and creative manner
  • Be persuasive and tenacious when faced with a problem requiring solving
Operations Team Responsibilities
  • Be willing to work in other areas when required
  • Be flexible and reasonably competent in all Logistics functions and related activities
  • Understand impact your actions and activities have on other areas
  • Ensure clear & concise methods of communication
  • Understand and apply the ethos of the company values and goals.
  • Be positive, co-operative and always show a professional attitude consistent with working in a fast moving team environment.
  • Maintain a good timekeeping and sickness record.
  • Willingly undertake training in order to maintain and develop improved competency and knowledge.
The shift pattern will involve being flexible to work the below shifts:

6am - 2pm Monday - Thursday & 6am - 12pm on Friday 2pm - 10pm Monday - Thursday & 12pm - 6pm on Friday 38 hours paid per week

The pay rates are:
  • Early Shift - £14.41 per hour
  • Afternoon Shift - £14.41 per hour plus £203 paid at the end of the month as a lump sum if you have worked the aternoon shift for the whole month - this will equate to £15.76 per hour
Overtime is payable using the following breakdown:
  • Time plus ⅓ of your normal hourly rate (as determined by the Company) for the first two hours of overtime worked Monday to Friday (inclusive) and time plus ½ thereafter
  • Time plus ½ of your normal hourly rate (as determined by the Company) for the first six hours and double time thereafter for overtime worked on Saturdays
  • Double time of your normal hourly rate (as determined by the Company) for overtime worked on Sundays.
