Job description

Roxel is an Anglo-French company that designs, develops, and manufactures a range of solid propellant rocket motors for tactical missiles. Its operations are spread across several sites in the UK and France, with an annual turnover of about £100M and nearly 1,000 staff. The UK operations are based at Summerfield, Kidderminster, where we have a permanent vacancy for a Logistics Team Leader within the Logistics Department.

We are seeking an experienced Logistics/Warehouse Team Leader to oversee daily logistics and warehouse activities. The role involves ensuring process efficiency, supervising staff, coordinating operations, maintaining quality standards, and managing documentation.

The ideal candidate should have proven experience in logistics and warehousing processes, be an effective team leader, dependable, and possess excellent organizational and time management skills.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Promote zero harm by adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies.
  2. Conduct risk assessments and manage COSHH compliance.
  3. Manage multiple storage facilities, both energetic and inert.
  4. Oversee logistics activities and report on productivity.
  5. Control inventory, coordinate receipt, storage, and delivery of goods.
  6. Ensure inventory accuracy in the ERP system (Tropos).
  7. Perform audits and stock checks to maintain inventory accuracy.
  8. Serve as Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA) as required.
  9. Assess risks in transporting dangerous goods and ensure legal compliance.
  10. Report incidents involving dangerous goods to the Department for Transport.
  11. Provide safety training and ensure compliance with regulations.
  12. Complete audit reports and oversee maintenance and inspections.
  13. Coordinate vehicle and equipment management.
  14. Lead daily QRQC and SQCDPI meetings.
  15. Develop and improve logistics processes through continuous improvement techniques.
  16. Foster relationships with other departments and support supply chain development.
  17. Implement and maintain 6S methodology for a well-organized workspace.
People Management
  1. Supervise the team, set clear expectations, and motivate staff.
  2. Conduct performance reviews and manage attendance.
  3. Address performance issues and support disciplinary processes.
  4. Identify training needs and promote development activities.
  5. Set high standards and promote safety and professionalism.
  6. Maintain training records, performance reviews, and risk assessments.
  7. Report on targets and operational achievements.
  8. Ensure health, safety, and environmental policies are followed.
  9. Provide technical support and expertise to the team.
Qualifications
Essential
  • GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade 9-4 or equivalent).
  • Forklift Truck Licence (preferably counterbalance).
Desirable
  • ILM Level 3 qualification or willingness to pursue.
  • IOSH Managing Safely qualification or willingness to obtain.
  • Yellow Belt or equivalent in Lean Manufacturing.
  • DGSA qualification or willingness to train.
Experience
Essential
  • Experience in manufacturing or warehouse environments.
  • Proven team management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and MRP systems (e.g., Tropos).
Desirable
  • Experience with Lean principles (Kaizen, Kanban, waste reduction).
  • Experience with risk assessments and COSHH.
  • Experience within ISO 9100 or similar quality management systems.
