Job description

At Heidelberg Materials, we’re shaping the future of construction with smart, sustainable, and digital logistics solutions. As one of the world’s leading suppliers of building materials, our operations depend on the seamless movement of aggregates, asphalt, cement, and ready-mix across the UK and beyond.

We're now looking for a skilled and driven Syncrotess Logistics System Expert to join our team and take the lead in powering our digital transport systems.

This is a pivotal role with real impact — sitting at the crossroads of operations, technology, and global collaboration.

Your Role:

As a Syncrotess Logistics System Expert, you'll be responsible for the configuration, optimisation, and performance of the Syncrotess Transport Control System (TCS) — the digital backbone of our logistics operations.

You’ll also be the operational lead for two other key systems:

Material Replenishment System (MRP) – enabling accurate, timely replenishment across our aggregates operations

Trackit – our electronic vehicle tracking and ticketing platform

And crucially, you’ll be responsible for getting the basics right — ensuring master data quality, process consistency, and strong foundational practices that underpin high-performing digital logistics systems.

As the UK’s key connection point to global Syncrotess experts, especially in Australia, you’ll help drive system alignment, share best practices, and embed consistency across the business — particularly within our Customer Service Centre (CSC) in Syston.

Who You Are:

You’re someone who knows that the success of digital systems starts with solid foundations. You value consistency, clean data, and well-defined processes. You’re confident working with technology and operational teams, able to connect the dots, solve problems quickly, and drive change where it’s needed.

You’re curious, collaborative, and thrive in an environment where innovation meets real-world logistics. And most importantly, you get things done — and you bring others with you.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Configure and support the Syncrotess TCS across aggregates, asphalt, ready-mix, and cement operations
  • Lead UK operations for the Material Replenishment System (MRP) and Trackit
  • Ensure data accuracy and consistency by managing and improving master data inputs across key systems
  • Champion the importance of clean data, standardised processes, and consistent system usage
  • Collaborate with international Syncrotess teams to align on system development and best practice
  • Drive digital efficiency and operational excellence in the Syston CSC
  • Support the deliver of training, user support, and documentation
  • Support ERP and platform integrations alongside IT and logistics teams

What You Bring:

  • Experience with Syncrotess or a similar transport control/logistics platform
  • Strong operational knowledge of aggregates or construction materials logistics
  • Understanding of digital vehicle tracking, replenishment systems, and ticketing platforms
  • Experience working with or maintaining master data in a logistics or supply chain context
  • A proactive mindset, strong attention to detail, and a desire to get the fundamentals right
  • Great communication skills and ability to work with stakeholders across location

Bonus Points For:

  • Experience working in a centralised customer service or logistics control environment
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (e.g. SAP), API integrations, or XML-based interfaces
  • Exposure to digital transformation projects in logistics or construction materials
