Working in Manufacturing at JLR, you'll be the hands-on expert who brings innovation to life. You'll collaborate with a team of expert technicians and problem-solvers and use cutting-edge tools, facilities, and processes engineered together to build era-defining vehicles that people across the world know and love. Your expertise will directly impact the shaping of modern luxury. Together, let’s create the exceptional.

WHAT TO EXPECT

You will play a pivotal part in shaping our logistics processes by developing and managing simulation models.

Additionally, you'll work closely with plant logistics teams to understand their needs and assess the demand for simulation, ensuring that their priorities are effectively coordinated with our central discrete event simulation team. Your collaboration with cross-functional teams will be key to seamlessly integrating simulation models into our existing processes.

You will also have the opportunity to empower others by providing training on simulation tools and methodologies, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  1. Develop Simulation Models: Create and manage simulation models for intralogistics processes to support decision-making. Use these models to analyse different scenarios and optimise logistics operations.
  2. Assess Simulation Demand: Evaluate the demand for simulation from plant logistics teams. Gather requirements, assess priorities, and ensure that the most critical needs are addressed.
  3. Coordinate with Simulation Team: Work closely with the central discrete event simulation team to prioritise and coordinate simulation work. Ensure alignment and integration of simulation models with overall logistics strategies.
  4. Analyse Demand Patterns: Evaluate demand patterns and optimise resource allocation to enhance logistics operations. Develop strategies to balance supply and demand, minimise bottlenecks, and improve efficiency.
  5. Collaborate with Teams: Partner with cross-functional teams, including logistics, manufacturing, and supply chain, to integrate simulation models into existing processes. Ensure that simulation insights are used to drive decision-making and process improvements.
  6. Provide Training and Support: Train logistics personnel on the use of simulation tools and methodologies. Offer ongoing support and troubleshooting assistance to ensure smooth operation and adoption of new tools.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  1. Proven experience in developing and managing simulation models within a logistics or manufacturing environment.
  2. Strong understanding of demand management methodologies and best practices.
  3. Proficiency in using simulation tools and software, ideally Autodesk Factory Design Utilities.
  4. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  5. Strategic and analytical thinking with a problem-solving mindset.
