Job description

Job Title: Fork Lift Truck Driver/Logistics Operator (Temporary 4 month contract)

Location: Blackwood

Salary: £23,810 + £82.76 shift allowance per week, earning £28,113 per annum when on shifts (working 37.5 hours a week)

Hours: This position would initially be days working 6am - 2pm or 7am - 3pm for training but could involve going onto a shift pattern. The shift rota for the area is a rolling 3 week rotation of 2 weeks days (Monday - Friday 6am - 2pm) and 1 week of afternoons (Monday - Thursday 10.45am - 6.45pm and Friday 9.45am - 5.45pm).

Here at The Recruitment Co, we are currently recruiting a Fork Lift Truck Driver/Logistics Operator to work for our client in Blackwood on a temporary contract for 4 months with a possibility of it going permanent.

The successful candidate will initially start on regular days to allow for training. Once initial training has been successfully completed, the successful candidate will start to work shifts and be paid the associated shift pay allowance.

Main Job Roles:
  • Must be able to drive a forklift and have valid counterbalance forklift certification.
  • Manoeuvring abnormal sized cargo around the factory floor and yard.
  • Packing and securing parts ready for shipment.
  • Ascertain packing requirements, such as containers or packing materials to be used depending on the type and size of parts to be shipped.
  • Operate various power tools to modify crates and boxes for shipment, as well as affix labels and stencil information on packed cartons or crates.
  • Handle shipping and receiving paperwork and update the computer system to manage the location of units and crates.
  • Load and unload lorries.
  • Collections/deliveries to and from off-site warehouse and local external vendors.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly work area, both internal and external.
  • Flexibility, including out of hours support if/when applicable, and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Driving licence essential for up to 3.5 tons.
