Job description

Do you have experience as a Technical Operator in a manufacturing environment? Are you looking for a fixed term role? Do you have the flexibility to work 12 hour shifts? If so, this vacancy at our Prudhoe Paper Mill in our automated warehouse may be just for you.

Our Prudhoe site houses two paper machines and seven converting lines which turns our tissue paper into the finished product, a recycled fibre plant and a distribution centre. This role is based within our automated warehouse department, working a 4-on/6-off 4-on/4-off - 12 hour shift pattern.

About the role

As an Operations Technician working on our DACW you will be responsible for ensuring the operational flow of the system whilst supporting fault finding and problem-solving activities, liaising with Operators, Team Leaders and Engineering teams.

The role involves providing training and coaching in situations where technical assistance is required. At the request of the Team Leaders you should support priority areas as required and as skills allow.

Your role is to help maintain and improve the day to day operational efficiency of area assets, by ensuring regular and efficient maintenance is carried out and problems solved to root cause, safely, effectively and quickly in order to meet business needs at all times.

Our automated warehouse is 11 stories high meaning you would need to be comfortable working at height with full safety harness and rescue training provided for the successful candidate.

What You Will Do

The DACW Operations Technician role involves monitoring, operating, as well as responding to and repairing both electrical and mechanical breakdowns on the DACW system that transports pallets from the converting lines into the dynamic automated compact warehouse and onwards to the loading bays.

This role operates as a member of the Logistics team running any part of the process as required, helping the team overcome any operating and quality problems, completing shift reports, clean/inspection/lubrication on all conveyors and assisting in housekeeping activities. You should execute all operational tasks with excellence and adhere to all documented procedures. You should execute any quality checks with integrity and in a timely manner.

All process issues should be documented as per departmental procedures along with suitable countermeasures to prevent re-occurrence.
