Job Description

Are you an Engineering Graduate looking for an opportunity to use your analytical and problem solving skills in a challenging Logistics environment? Or maybe you are an experienced Logistics or Transport professional looking for a new opportunity to further develop your career?

Alma Personnel have been instructed by their Birmingham based logistics client to seek out an experienced Logistics and Projects Engineer coupled with operational skills to join their busy and growing team.

This role demands a high level of skill, planning techniques and project management skills, so this would be ideal for somebody who is a professional in their field looking to further their career in project cargo management or someone looking to kickstart their career having had exposure to the logistics industry either as a Graduate backed up with excellent qualifications in the this field looking to break into the industry.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct feasibility studies and routing surveys for cargo movement.
  • Operate the internal project CAD software including analysis and asset tagging tools to manage your projects.
  • Liaise with shipping ports, terminals and other transport providers
  • Monitor cargo handling, including loading, securing, and discharge
  • Track project progress and provide regular updates to project managers
  • Manage project documentation, including permits and certifications
  • Act as primary point of contact for clients during the development and execution of each project
  • Conduct any site surveys as and when required
  • Build relations with suppliers, contractors and other service providers to enhance your future projects
  • Uphold ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards and management systems
  • Document incident reports with suppliers and request corrective actions.
  • Maintain quality management systems for continuous improvement.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations, best practices, and technology.
Requirements
  • Engineering degree (Mechanical, Civil, or marine etc.)
  • A high degree of IT literacy and strong software usage skills.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Happy to travel locally and overseas as and when required
  • Full clean driving license
  • Min 2 to 3 years experience in transport, logistics related industries
  • A good knowledge of local and overseas shipping regs and procedures
  • Use of CAD software would be a distinct advantage

This role will develop and as the scope and nature of the projects get bigger giving you valuable experience in project management and development of your personal goals. Plenty of opportunities to further enhance your skills with industry training courses and certifications across all sectors of logistics handling industries, with the opportunity to possibly work from overseas offices owed by the group.

Working 37.5 hours per week Mon-Fri, given the huge responsibility that this role demands, some flexibility would be required to occasionally work outside of normal working hours including evenings as and when required, weekend cover and odd occasional off-site assignments.
