Job summary

Madigan Gill is seeking an experienced Construction Logistics Manager to own site logistics on a large student accommodation project in Wembley. The role requires proactive planning, strong organisation and tighter control of deliveries, hoists, storage and waste within a highly constrained urban site.

You will lead logistics teams, coordinate with subcontractors and project managers, and develop look-ahead plans to keep the programme on track through fit-out and handover.

Qualifications

• Proven track record as Logistics Manager on major construction projects.
• Experience on constrained urban sites, preferably London.
• Experience managing logistics teams and subcontractors.
• Strong planning, communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and continually improve the site logistics plan aligned with the construction programme.
• Control deliveries, vehicle movements and traffic management.
• Coordinate unloading, storage, cranes, hoists and material distribution.
• Plan vertical logistics to ensure on-time material delivery to correct floors.
• Produce weekly logistics look-aheads and flag constraints early.
• Coordinate subcontractor delivery and logistics requirements.
• Oversee logistics supervisors, traffic marshals and labour teams.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping, waste management and site organisation.
• Ensure safety with pedestrian/vehicle segregation and site H&S practices.
• Minimise double handling and optimise material storage.
• Collaborate with PMs, Construction Managers and subcontractors across trades.
• Coordinate high-volume FF&E deliveries during later stages.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Construction Logistics Manager to take ownership of logistics on a large student accommodation project in Wembley.

The site is highly constrained and logistically challenging, requiring strong control of deliveries, vehicle movements, material distribution, hoists, storage, waste and housekeeping.

The successful candidate will need to be proactive, organised and capable of planning logistics around the construction programme, particularly through the busy fit-out stages.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and continually develop the site logistics plan in line with the construction programme.
• Manage all deliveries, booking systems, vehicle movements and traffic management.
• Coordinate unloading areas, storage, cranes, hoists and material distribution.
• Plan and manage vertical logistics, ensuring materials reach the correct floors and workfaces when required.
• Produce weekly logistics look-aheads and identify constraints before they affect the programme.
• Coordinate subcontractor delivery and logistics requirements.
• Manage logistics supervisors, traffic marshals, hoist drivers, labourers and waste teams.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping, waste management and site organisation.
• Ensure safe pedestrian/vehicle segregation and compliance with site H&S procedures.
• Control material storage and minimise double handling and congestion.
• Work closely with the Project Manager, Construction Managers and subcontractors throughout structure, envelope, fit-out and completion.
• Coordinate high-volume fit-out and FF&E deliveries during the later stages of the project.

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience as a Logistics Manager on a major construction project.
• Experience on constrained London/urban sites.
• Ideally previous student accommodation, residential or hotel experience.
• Strong understanding of multi-storey construction, hoists and material distribution.
• Experience managing logistics teams and subcontractors.
• Strong planning, communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to understand construction programmes and plan logistics accordingly.
• SMSTS and CSCS required.
• First Aid and Lifting Supervisor qualifications advantageous.

The Candidate

We are looking for a hands-on, proactive Logistics Manager who can take full ownership of a challenging site. They must be confident managing subcontractors, planning ahead and coordinating multiple trades competing for limited access, storage and logistics resources.
