THE ROLE

The Logistics Manager is responsible for a large team (20-25), providing direction, motivation and engagement of a team of Operators to collectively achieve production targets, on time, safely and in line with quality and cost targets.

Initially we are looking for someone who can join us on a 6 month FTC basis.

Working closely with departmental and planning managers to service the manufacturing production areas, striving towards quality and continuous improvement and ensuring housekeeping standards are maintained.

This role would be based onsite at our warehouse in Leeds, working on days 7.5 hours (we offer flexible working so start and finish times could but we do need someone who is prepared to occasionally work hours overlap with other shift patterns in order to meet with personnel on other shifts occasionally.)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be aware of department targets, and be able to prioritise workloads effectively
  • Manage team members in accordance with Company policy. Carry out team briefings, meetings, appraisals and disciplinaries
  • Maintain good working relationships with Suppliers, Customers and department members
  • Ensure routine and non-routine cleaning/maintenance takes place
  • Ensure that work produced/completed is accurate and thorough and meets quality standards, with errors
  • highlighted and rectified or appropriately referred
  • Ensure an acceptable/agreed volume of work is processed, contributing to the achievement of the
  • Take an active leadership role within the operational areas
  • Complete all production records, paperwork, downtime records etc. to required quality standards
  • Assist in the training and development of inexperienced operatives
  • Assist in implementing systems and procedures in line with Company rules and policies

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Ideally have experience as a logistics manager however a manager within another operational role in a manufacturing environment would also hold many transferable skills

5 years or more working in manufacturing or logistics

5+ years of leadership and people management experience

Strong leadership skills

Knowledge of managing the health and safety within a warehouse environment

Highly organised and used to managing team KPIs

Strong communications skills

Technically competent with excellent attention to detail
