Job description

Logistics Manager

Alexander Steele is supporting a leading food manufacturing business in Buckinghamshire to appoint a Logistics Planning Manager. This role is responsible for ensuring the timely, cost-effective, and compliant movement of raw materials and finished goods through the supply chain, maintaining alignment with production schedules and customer demand.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement logistics strategies that ensure efficient transportation, warehousing, and distribution of food products.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics with suppliers, warehouses, and transportation providers.
  • Collaborate with production planning, procurement, and quality teams to ensure material availability and timely order fulfilment.
  • Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers (3PLs) and negotiate service contracts.
  • Develop contingency plans for disruptions in the supply chain.

Background Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of logistics or supply chain experience in food manufacturing or a similarly regulated industry.
  • Strong understanding of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and logistics software (e.g., TMS, WMS).
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities.
