Overview

We are seeking an experienced Logistics Manager who will also oversee production control within a complex automotive supply chain. You will develop a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and outstanding delivery, with the autonomy to influence change and optimise inventory. You will lead a team to deliver exceptional results in Northampton and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities

• Team Leadership and Management – promote a positive working environment, provide clear and consistent management, lead by example in maintaining operational standards and delivering performance improvement, while empowering your team.
• Growth and Development – work with your team and the broader group to support growth and development; resolve concerns outside their scope and escalate appropriately when needed.
• Translate improvement objectives for HSE, Quality, Cost and Delivery into detailed targets for production and logistics; set targets and motivate the team to achieve them.
• Use daily and weekly performance metrics to identify deviations, develop containment and countermeasures, implement actions, and monitor corrective actions.
• QHSE – ensure safe operating conditions, audit compliance with company procedures, and take corrective action when needed.

Your Background

Logistics Manager - Production Control, Manufacturing, Automotive

Your background will be diverse, with solid manufacturing experience and leadership across logistics, supply-chain operations, or equivalent. Ideally from a Global or corporate background. We welcome applications from SMEs, but you should understand the complex supply-chain challenges from raw materials to finished goods.

You will have:

• Experience in the automotive industry or a transferable, fast-paced volume manufacturing environment (e.g., aerospace, pharmaceutical, food, rail, industrial, fasteners, technical consumables, etc.).
• Experience working in regulated and compliant environments.
• A proven ability to lead, motivate, and make challenging decisions with accountability.
• A customer-first attitude to succeed within a global supply chain.
• Strong working knowledge of SAP in a manufacturing environment, including production planning, material requirements planning (MRP), inventory control, customer schedules, logistics flows, and supply chain performance.
• A passion for improving processes, raising standards, and implementing sustainable improvements that enhance customer service, inventory performance, and operational efficiency.
• A proactive, data-driven mindset with the ability to identify issues, challenge practices, and implement effective solutions.

Requirements & Experience

Knowledge of IATF 16949:2016 is preferred. The role involves leading 5 direct and 25 indirect reports, with a 24/5 shift pattern in a global automotive context.

Benefits & Location

• Location: Northampton (commutable from Milton Keynes, Leicester, Bedford, Huntingdon, Peterborough, St Neots, Market Harborough, Daventry, Banbury, Brackley, Rugby)
• BASIC SALARY: Up to £75,000 dependent on experience
• Benefits: 33 days holiday (including bank holidays, increasing with service), Group Company Pension, Death in Service x4
