Logistics & Customs Assistant Manager - Position Overview
We're currently recruiting for a dynamic and driven Logistics & Customs Assistant Manager to join a long-established logistics and marine services provider with a strong reputation for excellence in freight forwarding, customs, and supply chain operations.
With over 70 years of industry experience, the company has grown from a regional shipping agent into a trusted logistics partner. This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a key role, supporting management and helping to drive service delivery in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
Responsibilities
- Deliver efficient logistics and customs solutions across customer supply chains.
- Act as key customer contact in manager's absence; maintain strong relationships and address competitor activity.
- Oversee account management, workload distribution, and team support.
- Drive business development by identifying and securing new opportunities and cross-selling services.
- Manage operations across the Port of Liverpool, Widnes, and other UK sites, liaising with logistics partners.
- Handle pricing, margin optimisation, and financial queries with the accounts team.
- Monitor and control inventory, ensuring continuous service improvement and excellent customer experience.
- Supervise daily team activities; ensure quality, safety, environmental, and financial standards are met.
- Use internal systems for planning, tracking and reporting work.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, health & safety regulations, and provide general support to management.
Qualifications
- Proven experience managing key customer relationships (essential).
- Background in supply chain, steel, or bulk logistics (desirable).
- Relevant industry experience required; sector qualification preferred.
- Full, valid UK driving licence (essential).

Remuneration
- Salary - £38,000-£40,000 (Depending on experience)
- Monday to Friday
