Job description

Our client is looking to hire a Logistics Coordinator to work in the logistics/transport team of a large aggregate supplier, to fulfil internal and external customer orders. It is a fast paced environment working with company drivers, contractors, internal and external customers. Experience within a UK transport and logistics environment is essential.

Working Pattern

You will work 46.25 hours per week Monday to Friday between 06:00 & 18:00 - Specific hours to be agreed with the depot but you will need to be able to work any hours between 06:00 & 18:00 depending on operational requirements

One saturday in 3 on rota.

Reporting to: Logistics Manager / Assistant Logistics Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and scheduling work for vehicles/drivers
  • Receiving and coordinating customer orders and enquiries
  • Planning incoming materials, outgoing orders and internal transfers of stock
  • Utilising the fleet to maximize efficiency of routes and earnings
  • Sourcing and managing contract hauliers
  • Administration associated with invoices, vehicle earnings and drivers wages
  • Safe practices
  • Managing visitors, all vehicles entering depot
  • Promoting the core values of the company

Key Skills

  • Experience of working in a transport / logistics office environment essential
  • Knowledge of drivers hours regulations and Working Time Directive would be preferential
  • Able to demonstrate good geographical knowledge (local)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Sound numeracy skills
  • Proficient use of IT, including Microsoft (Word & Excel)
  • Preference for experience in aggregate or construction industry
  • Team player
