Job summary

AE Partners in Reading is hiring a permanent Logistics Coordinator to oversee movement, scheduling and cost optimization. The role offers a hybrid arrangement with 2–3 days in the office and a salary band of £30,000–£38,000 depending on experience.

You will act as logistics focal point for the business line, validate transport requests, plan routes, monitor shipments, and ensure regulatory compliance while seeking continuous improvement in service and cost.

Responsibilities

• Be the BL's logistics focal point for their movements.
• Validate transport requests and delivery dates for designated regions to ensure on-time delivery.
• Prepare equipment load plans to maximize rental and call-out utilization.
• Apply planning tools and rate checkers to achieve competitive costs with contracted rates.
• Plan shipment routings, use consolidation and backloads to reduce costs.
• Monitor shipment execution and track movements; update internal stakeholders on deviations.
• Manage weekly schedules and milk runs in the region.
• Issue work orders before moves and secure cost approvals.
• Identify opportunities to improve logistics networks.
• Ensure transports comply with international transport regulations.
• Monitor cargo status and investigate deviations.
• Implement proactive and corrective actions with communication when deviations occur.
• Assess carrier performance on-time delivery and pickup.
• Manage international and domestic movements ensuring policy, finance, LTC and QHSE compliance.
• Ensure proper storage of electronic documents in the system.
• Interface with Import/Export teams for smooth communication.
• Participate in performance analysis meetings.
• Monitor and capture milestone data in the business system.
• Report deviations in QUEST and follow up on action plans for service quality.
• Obtain freight cost approvals and shortlist offers from freight forwarders in bidding system.

We are looking for a permanent hire for Logistics Specialist based in Reading. Suggested salary £30-£38k depending on experience. The role is hybrid 2-3 days per week office based.

Job description

• Be the BL's logistics focal point for their logistics movements.
• Validate transport requests and required delivery dates for a defined geographic region or lane(s) to achieve on-time delivery.
• Prepare equipment load plans per planning standard operating procedures to maximize rental and call-out equipment utilization.
• Leverage planning and use rate checker tools to achieve competitive costs by applying preferred contracted rates.
• Plan effective shipment/truck routings, leverage consolidation/cargo optimization, and maximize backload opportunities to drive down costs where possible.
• Monitor shipment execution, track shipment movements and manage deviations with our logistics suppliers while keep internal stakeholders updated.
• Manage weekly fixed schedules and regional milk runs.
• Issue work orders before each move with associated cost approvals.
• Identify logistics network improvement projects or opportunities.
• Ensure full compliance of transports with the international transport regulations.
• Monitor cargo moves status and performances and investigates deviations.
• Implement proactive and corrective measures combined with appropriate communication when early warning signs of deviation are detected.
• Assess carrier performance with respect to on-time delivery and on-time pickup.
• Manage international or domestic logistics movements ensuring compliance with policies and processes as well as local regulations including but not limited to finance, personnel, LTC guidelines and QHSE.
• Ensure proper storage of electronic documents in the system.
• Act as the interface with the Import/Export Teams and assure smooth communication flow between parties.
• Participate in the performance analysis meeting.
• Monitor and capture logistics milestone data in the business system.
• Report any deviation in QUEST and follow up on action plan to ensure continuous improvement on service quality.
• Obtain the necessary freight cost approval from the Business line representatives and shortlist offers from Freight Forwarders in the bidding system
