Reporting to the Transport Manager, you will be working within a busy Logistics Department, liaising closely with other internal team members, departments, external hauliers and customers to ensure delivery to all customers on time, efficiently and within budget.

Hours of work

Monday to Friday - 8:30am to 17:00pm

About The Role

Job Responsibilities include:

· Liaise with customers and hauliers to ensure all orders are delivered on time, in full, efficiently and within budget.

· Scheduling & Planning - daily/weekly route scheduling / planning of haulage work through England & Wales.

Finance – improve the margins currently being achieved from the transport planning.

· Answer and effectively respond to customer enquiries via telephone and emails.

· Prepare loading summaries and delivery notes and update systems accordingly.

· Liaise with scheduling function daily regarding shortages and priorities.

· Delivery management, including booking in deliveries, liaising with hauliers to ensure delivery on time and updating necessary systems and spreadsheets.

· Liaise with subcontractors regarding the collection of goods

· Effectively deal with internal and external customer enquiries regarding delivery and liaise with relevant sources to effectively respond to queries including PODs.

· Liaise with internal team members and hauliers to ensure trailers are available when required, loads are picked up and rebook deliveries with customers if required.

· Ensure all Cost of Quality issues are addressed within agreed time frames, including raising and monitoring of Goods returns and claims and updating the system.

· Deal with haulage related administrative work and analysing haulier performance.

· Any other duties as required

Desired Criteria

  • At Least 3 years’ experience in an equivalent position in a fast paced, logistical environment.
  • Dealing with Class 1 & 2 HGV Drivers & CPC Management
  • Familiarity with transportation management systems and 3PL operations is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of driver’s hours is beneficial but not essential
  • Working towards gaining the Transport Manager CPC

Required Criteria

  • GCSEs in Maths and English (A-C)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook & Teams).
  • Professional with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Good initiative & problem-solving ability.
  • Health & Safety focused
  • Excellent GB Road and Transport network understanding
  • At least 6 months office/administrative experience in a Transport/Logistics Department
