Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a Logistics Assistant with a number of posts available across the Cheshire & Merseyside Area of the NWAS.

The postholder will be responsible for providing logistics support in an operational sector within Cheshire & Mersey with base locations at CHESTER, MACCLESFIELD, NORTHWICH & WALLASEY, making sure that vehicles, equipment & consumables are available for frontline staff.

The role requires flexibility, attention to detail, & a commitment to high standards. You are required to hold a full driving licence appropriate for driving an ambulance & may be required to work across a number of locations in the sector/area.

Main duties of the job

The ability to communicate effectively with clinical and non-clinical staff and to work collaboratively with other logistic assistant postholders is required to support efficiency, enhance service delivery, operational effectiveness and foster a cohesive working environment.

The post holder will report to the relevant Group Manager and work in close contact with the local leadership team. They will undertake a range of duties including routine vehicle readiness checks, ensuring vehicles are clean, fuelled, roadworthy and appropriately equipped.

Restocking of consumables, coordination of equipment servicing, and supporting the fleet team to coordinate vehicle movements for maintenance, deep cleaning, or other operational requirements.

Ensure all medical equipment is clean, functional, in-date and appropriately stored. Support the calibration, servicing, and repair of medical equipment by liaising with appropriate internal departments and external suppliers.

Job responsibilities

You will be able to carry out everyday tasks on digital platforms, such as data entry or accessing information. Tasks will include ordering, receipting, tracking, and the reporting of issues with equipment and vehicles.

Comply with all health and safety requirements, including manual handling and COSHH regulations. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required when cleaning vehicles or handling equipment.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience of conducting checks on vehicles and/or equipment
