Job Summary
This role aims to enhance the Urology service at Homerton University Hospital. Initially a locum position, it has dedicated funding and a clear path to becoming substantive. The selected Urological Consultant Surgeon will specialize in diagnosing and managing urological cancers in an elective setting, contributing to a fully operational outpatient and surgical service. Operating sessions occur locally, and the department offers an electronic 'Advice and Guidance' service for GPs, with weekly time allocated for this. A strong focus on urological cancer diagnosis and management is essential due to growing demand. Responsibilities include running 2WW clinics, performing elective surgeries, leading general and MDT clinics, and participating in MDT meetings, both in-person and remotely. Beyond clinical work, the role involves engaging in programs to enhance care for urological cancer patients. This includes providing strategic guidance and redesigning care pathways to improve outcomes and collaborating with the cancer performance team to deliver comprehensive, high-quality care.
