The selected Urological Consultant Surgeon will specialize in diagnosing and managing urological cancers in an elective setting, contributing to a fully operational outpatient and surgical service. Operating sessions occur locally, and the department offers an electronic 'Advice and Guidance' service for GPs, with weekly time allocated for this. A strong focus on urological cancer diagnosis and management is essential due to growing demand. Responsibilities include running 2WW clinics, performing elective surgeries, leading general and MDT clinics, and participating in MDT meetings, both in-person and remotely. Beyond clinical work, the role involves engaging in programs to enhance care for urological cancer patients. This includes providing strategic guidance and redesigning care pathways to improve outcomes and collaborating with the cancer performance team to deliver comprehensive, high-quality care. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional passionate about urology and advancing patient care while contributing to the department's growth.

These responsibilities ensure excellence in patient outcomes and foster departmental growth.
The Consultant will play a vital role in the Urology Department, overseeing the diagnosis and management of patients with a particular focus on 2WW (Two-Week Wait) diagnostics and surgical procedures. The role offers an excellent opportunity to refine and expand special interests within urology, supported by appropriate mentorship and guidance. The Consultant will lead their own clinics, which include general and specialist consultations, ensuring that all activities align with the highest professional standards. Additionally, they will be responsible for in-patient care and addressing emergency cases as required, ensuring seamless patient care across various settings. A key expectation is for the Consultant to take a proactive role in managing outpatient clinics and contributing meaningfully to the overall direction and growth of the specialty. They will bear continuing responsibility for their patients' care, maintaining the proper functioning of their clinics and ensuring high standards in both clinical and operational aspects. Administrative duties are also integral to this role, encompassing responsibilities related to patient care documentation, clinic management, and departmental coordination. Active participation in medical audit processes will be mandatory, ensuring continuous improvement and adherence to clinical governance principles. Beyond clinical and administrative responsibilities, the Consultant will be deeply involved in the professional development of trainees and allied health professionals within the department. They are expected to mentor, guide, and support junior doctors and medical students, playing an essential role in their education and assessment. Their contribution to teaching and skill development will enrich the training environment and uphold the department's reputation for excellence in education. The Consultant's commitment to lifelong learning and professional development is pivotal. They are expected to engage in regular appraisal processes and ensure readiness for revalidation, thereby maintaining the highest standards of medical practice. This multifaceted role combines patient care, administrative responsibility, education, and professional development. It is designed for an individual with a passion for advancing the field of urology while fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous learning within the department. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping patient outcomes and contributing to the department's growth and success.
