Job summary

St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in London (Tooting) is recruiting a Locum Consultant in Thoracic Surgery to provide thoracic surgical services as part of a dedicated team, including on-call duties and teaching responsibilities.

The post requires full GMC registration, extensive thoracic surgery experience, and ability to work in a multidisciplinary setting. The role supports clinical governance, training, and service development within a major acute NHS trust.

Qualifications

• Full GMC registration and specialist registration or within six months of CCT.
• Comprehensive clinical experience in thoracic surgery.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and ability to teach/train.

Responsibilities

• Provide thoracic surgical services for St George's University Hospital NHS Trust.
• Participate in on-call duties (1 in 6, category A).
• Contribute to undergraduate teaching and postgraduate training.
• Support training and development of junior doctors.
• Engage in research and potential SPAs if criteria are fulfilled.
• Participate in clinical governance, audits, guidelines and risk management.
• Contribute to service management and development.
• Review job plan annually to reflect changes in practice.
