Locum Specialty Doctor in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

This post is offered on a full time 10 Programmed Activity basis (9 DCC PAs and 1 SPA PAs) although less than full time applications will be considered.

Duties will be based primarily on our Wakefield (Pinderfields) and Dewsbury sites although all our medical staff are involved in delivering care to patients on all 3 sites.

Main duties of the job

1. Provision of care to patients in the Oral & Maxillofacial Service
2. Referral of patients to other specialities as appropriate
3. Out-patient activities/clinics dependent on the needs of patients
4. Involvement in relevant multi-disciplinary teams and meetings
5. Involvement in relevant administration duties
6. Teaching and supervision of junior medical staff and other clinicians as appropriate
7. Active involvement in audit and clinical governance including service improvement activities

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• Dental Degree from recognised dental school

Desirable

• Progress towards or attainment of Royal College Exams
• ATLS, ALS, APLS or PALS certification
• Higher qualification e.g. MFARM, FRCS, MRCP, MRCPG, MRCS, FRCA or equivalent

Experience

Essential

• Completed at least four years full time hospital service junior or higher grade since first obtaining full or limited registration, including a minimum 1 year experience in Oral Surgery

Desirable

• Experience of teaching clinical skills
• Clinical research and development

GDC Registration

Essential

• Please state full GDC number.
• Full GDC Registration with licence to practise

Management Skills

Essential

• Demonstrates intelligent and analytical approach to problem solving.
• Good time management.

Desirable

• Possess good organisational skills.
