Locum Specialty Dentist in Restorative Dentistry

Full-Time Locum Specialty Dentist in Restorative Dentistry, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be based at the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital, Sheffield.

The full post entails 1.0 whole time equivalent until 31 March 2026.

Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.

Should any further vacancies arise shortlisted applicants will be considered.

Main duties of the job

The appointee will be expected to work independently under the supervision of consultants within the department. They will be expected to have a good level of knowledge in the field of Restorative Dentistry. The post will involve delivering a core level of outpatient teaching. The successful candidate will work flexibly and cooperatively with the other members of the team to provide a high quality and comprehensive service within the Charles Clifford Dental Services Academic Directorate. There are no on-call responsibilities associated with this post.

Person Specification
Qualifications/ Experience/ Entry Criteria
  • Dental Degree from a recognised UK or overseas university or institution
  • A minimum of 4 years since qualification (or equivalent gained on a part-time basis) at least 2 of which will be in a specialty training facility in the relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee in the specialty or shall have equivalent experience and competencies.
  • Full registration with the General Dental Council
  • Qualifications required for post BDS (or equivalent)
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • MFDS, MJDF, FDS or equivalent
  • Wider experience in different Restorative Dentistry units
Teaching
  • Willingness and ability to teach undergraduate and postgraduate trainees
Personal Attributes
  • Good Written and oral communication skills
Audit/Research
  • An understanding of the issues of clinical effectiveness and audit
  • Documented completed audits during training
Management and Clinical Governance
  • Demonstrate and understanding of management & clinical governance issues
