Job description

Safeguarding | Unique Opportunity | Low Caseload | Free Travel | Lower Tax

Offshore Picturesque Location, South Atlantic 4-month Fixed Term Contract | Immediate Start Available £35k pa (pro rata) + International Supplement

If you’re an experienced children’s social worker looking for the chance to try something completely new, this is for you.

This is a rare opportunity to live and work on the remote and remarkable island of a self-governing UK Overseas Territory in the South Atlantic. You’ll be joining the children & families service of a super close-knit community, where your quality work will really make a positive difference to all the service users.

You’ll manage a complex caseload focused on child protection and safeguarding, as well as court work, while supporting the development of a new strategic framework for integrated social services. You’ll also lead practice improvements and quality of assessments and care planning, by mentoring, leading meetings and workshops, updating the team on practice developments and research findings, as well as the induction of new staff.

It’s a great opportunity to use your experience across children's services to make a real impact not only on the children & families involved, but also your colleagues and the senior management team.

Benefits:

  • £35k salary (pro rata), plus International Supplement
  • Manageable caseload (around 15)
  • Free return travel to the island & support with accommodation
  • Unique island lifestyle experience (population just over 4000)
  • Opportunity to influence service development and work on leadership skills
  • Make a real impact in a developing service

As this is a statutory role, you do require a social work qualification & registration to Social Work England.
