Job summary

21 Health & Social Care are recruiting experienced social workers for locum opportunities across Scotland. Positions include Children & Families Duty Team, Family Centred Care, Disability Team and Adult Social Work Services.

Applicants must be a qualified Social Worker registered in Scotland with at least 1 year post-qualification experience. Flexible contracts and frequent extensions are available.

Qualifications

• Recognised social work qualification.
• Active registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
• PVG Disclosure (or willingness to obtain one).
• Minimum 1 year post-qualification experience.
• Experience in Adults, Children & Families, Learning Disabilities or Mental Health.
• Strong knowledge of Scottish legislation and safeguarding.

Responsibilities

• Deliver statutory social work services under Scottish legislation.
• Undertake assessments, support planning and reviews.
• Manage complex caseloads with person-centred interventions.
• Complete safeguarding work (Adult & Child Protection).
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and partner agencies.
• Support individuals, children, families and carers to outcomes.
• Prepare reports and attend case conferences and court proceedings.

Locum Social Worker

Pay Rate: Ranging from £25- £45 per hour (PAYE & Umbrella)
Location: Multiple locations across Scotland
Contract Type: Locum Social Work Opportunities
Duration: Flexible contracts available (initially 3- with extension potential)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm (varies by assignment)

About the Role:

21 Health & Social Care are recruiting experienced and dedicated Social Workers for a range of locum opportunities across Scotland. We are currently recruiting for positions within:

• Children & Families Duty Team- St Boswells Scottish Borders
• Children & Families- Hawick Scottish Borders
• Family Centred Care Social Worker- Midlothian
• Children Services Disability Team- Midlothian
• Adult Social Work Services- Edinburgh

These opportunities are available with local authorities and health and social care partnerships throughout Scotland.

To be considered for these roles, you must be a qualified Social Worker registered in Scotland with a minimum of 1 years' post-qualification experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Delivering statutory social work services in accordance with Scottish legislation and guidance.
• Undertaking assessments, support planning, and reviews.
• Managing complex caseloads and delivering person-centred interventions.
• Completing safeguarding and protection work, including Adult Support and Protection and Child Protection responsibilities.
• Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and partner agencies.
• Supporting individuals, children, families, and carers to achieve positive outcomes.
• Preparing reports and attending case conferences, reviews, and court proceedings where required.
• Promoting strengths-based practice and ensuring compliance with local authority policies and procedures.

Requirements:

• Recognised social work qualification, such as a BA/BSc (Hons) in Social Work, a postgraduate qualification in Social Work (e.g. an MSc or PgDip in Social Work), or the Diploma in Social Work (DipSW).
• Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
• PVG Disclosure (or willingness to obtain one).
• Minimum of 1 years post-qualification social work experience.
• Experience within Adults, Children and Families, Learning Disabilities, Mental Health, or related statutory services.
• Strong knowledge of relevant Scottish legislation and safeguarding procedures.
• Excellent assessment, communication, and report-writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload.
