Job summary

21 Health & Social Care is seeking experienced locum Social Workers to cover multiple assignments across Scotland. Roles involve delivering statutory social work services, assessments, and safeguarding work within Children and Families, Adults, and related services.

Qualified Social Workers with a valid Scottish registration and PVG are invited to apply. Flexible contracts offered, with weekly payroll and consultant support throughout the assignment.

Qualifications

• BA/BSc (Hons) in Social Work, MSc or PgDip in Social Work, or DipSW as recognised qualification.
• Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
• PVG Disclosure (or willingness to obtain one).
• Minimum of 1 year post-qualification social work experience.
• Experience within Adults, Children and Families, Learning Disabilities, Mental Health, or related statutory services.
• Strong knowledge of relevant Scottish legislation and safeguarding procedures.
• Excellent assessment, communication, and report-writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload.

Responsibilities

• Managing complex caseloads and delivering person-centred interventions.
• Completing safeguarding and protection work, including Adult Support and Protection and Child Protection responsibilities.

• Supporting individuals, children, families, and carers to achieve positive outcomes.
• Preparing reports and attending case conferences, reviews, and court proceedings where required.
• Promoting strengths-based practice and ensuring compliance with local authority policies and procedures.

Pay Rate: Ranging from £25- £45 per hour (PAYE & Umbrella)
Location: Multiple locations across Scotland

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm (varies by assignment)

About the Role:

• Children & Families Duty Team- St Boswells Scottish Borders
• Children & Families- Hawick Scottish Borders
• Family Centred Care Social Worker- Midlothian
• Children Services Disability Team- Midlothian
• Adult Social Work Services- Edinburgh

These opportunities are available with local authorities and health and social care partnerships throughout Scotland.

To be considered for these roles, you must be a qualified Social Worker registered in Scotland with a minimum of 1 years' post-qualification experience.

Key Responsibilities:
