Job summary

Candidates should have a BSc in Diagnostic Radiography and NHS experience, alongside strong interpersonal and radiographic skills. Job Summary:

Department: Imaging Department (General X-ray Areas)

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and perform radiographic examinations, correlate practice with Directorate protocols, train and supervise junior staff and trainees, work independently during out-of-hours duties.

Main Duties:

  • Assist senior Radiographic staff with day-to-day management and function of radiological sciences.
  • Supervise and support junior staff; ensure an efficient and high-quality service.
  • Manage and report equipment/power failures as appropriate.
  • Promote and participate in clinical audits.
  • Conduct radiographic examinations to an acceptable standard and seek guidance as needed.
  • Adhere to the ALARA principle and ensure safety in the use of ionizing radiation.
  • Produce high-quality, accurately labelled images.
  • Complete mandatory training and demonstrate competency in equipment use.
  • Participate in appraisal processes and full shift system, including evenings, nights, and weekends.
  • Utilize Patient Administration System and Radiological Sciences technology (e.g., PACS).

Application Requirements:

  • 18 months post-Degree/DCR(R) qualification experience, BSc (Honours) Degree in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent.
  • NHS experience.
  • Minimum 18 months post-qualification experience, evidence of a wide range of general work.
  • Experience in other modalities.
  • Extensive anatomical knowledge, understanding of pathological processes.
  • Good interpersonal skills, effective communication, decision-making, leadership, management and supervisory skills, excellent radiographic skills.
  • Uphold and model Trust values, full HCPC registration.
