Locum Senior Planning Lawyer – Local Authority – South West – Full Time – £55-£60 Umbrella

Venn Group's specialist Public Sector Legal division is pleased to be supporting a reputable Local Authority in the South West which is seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Planning Lawyer to join its team on an interim basis, starting within the next 4 weeks.

This is a full time position for an initial duration of 3 months, subject to likely extension thereafter. Fully remote working is available for the duration of the assignment.

The ideal candidate would be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive with previous Local Authority experience. You will be handling a mixed caseload consisting of general planning and highways agreements.

Duties may include the following:

  • Providing advice on a wide range of planning matters including highways
  • Drafting and negotiating complex s106/278 agreements
  • Advising and representing clients in negotiations and discussions with third parties in planning matters and legal practice areas relevant to the post
  • Providing legal advice and support to any of the client Committees and Directorates when directed
  • Undertaking research and providing advice to the Council in the areas of planning law specifically and Local Government Law generally

An hourly rate of approximately £55-£60 umbrella is offered for this position.
