Job summary

Pulse Healthcare is seeking a Band 6/7 Locum Senior Biomedical Scientist specialising in Microbiology to join our client’s team in the West Midlands, with a base in Coventry. The position is full-time, ongoing, with core hours and possible weekends, and offers a competitive hourly rate.

You will lead the department, perform culture, identification and sensitivity testing of clinical specimens, and apply manual and automated techniques to detect bacterial infections. NHS experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• HCPC registration is required.
• Biomedical Science degree or equivalent required.
• Experience in clinical microbiology management.
• Experience with culture and sensitivity testing.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• NHS experience preferred.

We are currently seeking a Band 6 Biomedical Scientist specialising in Microbiology to join our client’s team in the West Midlands. This is a full‑time, ongoing position working core hours and possible weekends. It is offering a competitive hourly rate and the opportunity to contribute to a busy and well‑established laboratory service.

Key Responsibilities

• You will lead the department and partake in performing culture, identification, and sensitivity testing of clinical specimens.
• You will detect bacterial infections using manual and automated techniques.

Qualifications and Experience

• HCPC registration
• Degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent
• Experience of management in Microbiology within a clinical laboratory
• Experience with culture and sensitivity testing
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• NHS experience (preferred)
