Job summary

Job description

A fixed-term, five-month locum or salaried GP post with Linden Medical Group, open to newly qualified and experienced GPs. The core of the work is surgery, telephone, video and online consultations, home visits and repeat prescribing, alongside care planning, prescribing to the local formulary and clinical supervision of registrars and other staff. The post is at a non-training practice and includes out-of-hours work. Full GMC registration, an MRCGP and a place on the Performers List are required.

What the job involves

• Consultations in surgery, by phone, video and online, in line with the practice timetable, including on call
• Making autonomous clinical decisions on self-referred and referred presenting problems
• Assessing undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems and screening for disease risk factors
• Developing care plans, providing counselling and health education, and referring to other providers
• Undertaking home visits
• Checking and signing repeat prescriptions and prescribing to the Northamptonshire ICB formulary
• Dealing promptly with queries, paperwork, reports and correspondence
• Keeping clear consultation notes, Read coding, audit data, QOF and enhanced service records, and complying with practice policies
• Contributing to clinical governance through evaluation, audit and clinical standard setting
• Clinically supervising GP registrars, medical students, nursing and allied health staff
• Attending practice training and events
• Supporting the partnership and management team to develop and run the practice
