Job summary

Locums First is seeking a NMC-registered Practice Nurse for Castle Cary-based locum roles across primary care services. The role offers fully flexible sessions, with options for weekday, evening or weekend work, and ad-hoc or ongoing bookings to suit your availability.

You’ll support treatment room clinics, chronic disease management and preventive health initiatives, collaborating with multiple care teams in a well-structured environment.

Qualifications

• NMC-registered nurse with primary care experience.
• Immunisation and cytology training beneficial.
• Confident in routine nursing tasks and treatment room clinics.
• Able to adapt to different clinical teams and service structures.
• Familiarity with common primary care systems.
• Enhanced DBS completed.

Responsibilities

• Delivering treatment room clinics including wound care and dressings.
• Supporting chronic disease management within established care plans.
• Carrying out immunisations for adults and children (if trained).
• Undertaking smear tests where cytology-trained.
• Performing NHS Health Checks and lifestyle assessments.
• Recording accurate clinical notes for each service.
• Assisting with general nursing duties as required.
