Job description

Locum Medical Negligence Solicitor

A respected and long-established law firm in Devon is seeking a skilled Locum Solicitor with experience in medical negligence to support their team on an interim basis.

The role involves taking over a caseload of approximately 20 ongoing medical negligence files. These matters are complex in nature and involve issues such as misdiagnosis, delayed treatment, surgical errors, negligent care, and fatal claims. Inquests, claims related to cosmetic surgery, and complaints against healthcare providers may also form part of the workload. You will be expected to manage files independently from start to finish, including all aspects of litigation and pre-litigation, depending on the stage of each matter.

While the department works largely with paper files, there is strong admin support available, including a legal secretary and trainee solicitor, so documents can be scanned in as needed to facilitate hybrid or remote working. The firm is open to applicants looking for a flexible working arrangement, whether part-time or full-time, with a minimum commitment of three days per week.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will be a qualified solicitor (England & Wales) with solid experience in clinical negligence law.
