A leading healthcare provider in Edinburgh is seeking a Locum Consultant Thoracic Surgeon. Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
Applications are welcome for the above Fixed Term, full time (40 hours per week) post based in the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
This post is within the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery in Lothian University Hospitals Division. The post holder will join 6 Consultant Surgeons, 3 of whom contribute to the delivery of thoracic surgery providing care within a large major teaching hospital for the University of Edinburgh, covering a full range of clinical/medical services and containing a number of special units. The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh is nationally and internationally well renowned for offering excellent training in cardio-thoracic surgery.
The Edinburgh Cardio-Thoracic Unit provides a regional service for approximately 1.5 million populations in Lothian, Fife, Tayside and Borders Areas. The work of the unit is carried out at the Royal Infirmary Cardiothoracic Unit, which deals with all trauma, open-heart surgery, surgery of the great vessels, and thoracic surgery with minimal involvement in oesophageal diseases.
