Nottingham University Hospital NHS Trust (NUH) is looking for a fulltime 12 month fixed term Stroke Consultant Physician to join an existing team of 10 NHS and academic consultants providing Stroke services to the people of Nottinghamshire and beyond. NUH is a Comprehensive Stroke Centre for the East Midlands and provides Endovascular, Neurosurgical services, 24/7 Thrombolysis and Hyperacute Care.
NUH hosts the Mechanical Thrombectomy Centre for the East Midlands region. The service is expanding following the successful business case for expanding Mechanical Thrombectomy 24/7.
The successful applicant will join an enthusiastic and committed team. The Trust is committed to further development of the Stroke service to maintain its long standing position in the forefront of stroke care provision nationally. The post holder will play a key part in developing the existing stroke pathway, providing consultant input to hyper acute stroke, acute stroke, intensive rehabilitation and continuing stroke rehabilitation

The Stroke Service currently has six stroke consultants, two academic consultants, one neurologist and one acute medicine consultant, providing a 24/7 service. The successful applicant will join an enthusiastic, passionate team with a specialist interest in stroke care. The post is a full time (10 Programmed Activities) Fixed Term Consultant Stroke Physician role, at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, working across all parts of the stroke service.
The stroke service provides 24/7 cover and currently has seven dedicated Stroke consultants and one clinical academic, and contribution from consultant neurologists and an acute medicine consultant.
The following draft Job Plan reflects our best assessment of what the final plan will be, based on 10 PAs. For all new consultants to NUH, we offer 8PAs DCC and 2 SPAs for the first year. The NUH Stroke service, alongside all other Royal College of Physicians Group I Medical Services / Specialties at NUH, provides a 0.5PA job planned contribution per new Consultant appointment, to support the unselected and / or generalist needs of our patients. This commitment may be provided by the appointee or shared across the Service.
