Job description

National Locums are working on behalf of an NHS trust based in Hampshire looking for a locum Consultant in Respiratory Medicine.

The Respiratory department based in an NHS trust in Hampshire is looking for a locum Consultant in Respiratory Medicine to start as soon as possible for 3 months initially.

This is a full-time position. Core working hours will be Monday – Friday, 09:00-17:00. Departmental responsibilities include:

  1. Provision of regular clinics.
  2. Provision of bronchoscopy, pleural and other specialist diagnostic services (there is adequate staffing for a successful candidate to opt out of the procedures rota).
  3. Provision of inpatient care to both respiratory and general medical patients.
  4. Supervision of trainees, providing advice on management and reviewing treatment plans.
  5. Provision of specialist advice and opinion to general practitioners and to other consultants.
  6. Participation in education programmes for trainees, medical students, physiotherapists, nursing staff and other specialist staff.
  7. Participation in the clinical governance activities of the department.
  8. Being an active member of the respiratory team, encouraging multi-professional working.
  9. Management of the trainees in the firm, providing appraisal and necessary feedback.
  10. Contribution to the overall management of the respiratory service, undertaking projects and programmes of work as delegated by the clinical director.

You must hold the following in order to be considered:

  • GMC license to practise.
  • MRCP or equivalent.
  • Full right to work.
  • Minimum 12 months NHS experience in Respiratory Medicine.
  • Specialist Registration in GIM and/or Respiratory Medicine.
