Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Consultant Radiologist with Interests in ENT and Thoracic Imaging, to join our teams in the Body Radiology department at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. The post will be for up to 12 months. We are one of the UK's largest teaching Trusts, a major trauma centre and regional Nuclear Medicine centre, serving a regional population of 1.5 million in a modern PFI facility (which ensures a guaranteed equipment replacement programme). This post will be primarily based at the University Hospital site and will involve 10 programmed activities (10 PA). You will contribute to the Body Consultant on call rota and to provision of ENT and Thoracic Imaging, including CT thoracic and US ENT intervention and contribution to cancer and non-cancer MDT meetings. You will be proficient in US, CT and MRI.

Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.

Main duties of the job

The primary purpose of the post will be to fulfil a key role in the provision of Thoracic and ENT specialist services and general support within the department. This includes reporting sessions and participation in multi-disciplinary meetings (MDTs). The department is seeking flexible candidates who will support and meet service needs.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The post holder will participate in Interstitial lung disease (ILD), Lung Nodule and Lung Cancer MDT meetings. UHCW participates in the Targeted Lung Health Check programme and participation in the Screening Review Meeting (SRM) is also expected. There will be an opportunity to train in, and report, Lung Cancer Screening low-dose CTs, which are currently being supported by AI based computer aided detection (Veye Lung Nodules). CT guided lung biopsy sessions will be arranged on a weekly basis.

There is also a requirement to provide ENT specialist imaging services. This includes cross sectional head and neck CT/MRI reporting and participation in weekly ENT MDTs on a rotational basis. There is also an expectation that the postholder will perform specialist neck ultrasound imaging and FNA/biopsy. At present, the ENT biopsy service is delivered by two consultant radiologists and a specialist Band 8A sonographer/advanced practitioner, who undertakes ultrasound guided FNAs of lesions in the neck. There will be opportunities to support further training of advanced practitioners/ sonographers in this role, to expand the services.
