Locum Consultant Psychiatrist - Medway Community Mental Health Team
Job overview: We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Locum Consultant Psychiatrist to join Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust in the Garden of England. You will play a pivotal role in providing mental health and learning disability services to a diverse population of 1.8 million people in Kent and Medway, while enjoying exceptional professional development opportunities and a high quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Main duties: 10 PA plus 0.5 PA and 3% Category A availability supplement for an on‑call post. Part time or job‑share applications are welcome.
Qualifications
- Essential criteria:
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Fully registered with the GMC and licence to practise at the time of appointment.
- Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months.
- Approved clinician status or able to achieve within three months of appointment.
- Approved under S12 or able to achieve with three months of appointment.
- In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice.
- Excellent knowledge and clinical skills using a bio‑psycho‑social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
- Makes decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others.
- Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA.
- Desirable criteria:
- Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
- MRCPsych or MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
- Additional clinical qualifications.
- Wide range of specialist and sub‑specialist experience relevant to the post within NHS or comparable service.
- Able to plan and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training relevant to this post.
- Experience in clinical research and or service evaluation.
- Evidence of achievement in education, research, audit and service improvement: awards, prizes, presentations and publications.
- Has led clinical audits leading to service change.
