Locum Consultant Psychiatrist - Medway Community Mental Health Team

Job overview: We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Locum Consultant Psychiatrist to join Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust in the Garden of England. You will play a pivotal role in providing mental health and learning disability services to a diverse population of 1.8 million people in Kent and Medway, while enjoying exceptional professional development opportunities and a high quality of life.

Responsibilities
  • Main duties: 10 PA plus 0.5 PA and 3% Category A availability supplement for an on‑call post. Part time or job‑share applications are welcome.
Qualifications
  • Essential criteria:
    • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
    • Fully registered with the GMC and licence to practise at the time of appointment.
    • Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months.
    • Approved clinician status or able to achieve within three months of appointment.
    • Approved under S12 or able to achieve with three months of appointment.
    • In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice.
    • Excellent knowledge and clinical skills using a bio‑psycho‑social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
    • Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
    • Makes decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others.
    • Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA.
  • Desirable criteria:
    • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
    • MRCPsych or MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
    • Additional clinical qualifications.
    • Wide range of specialist and sub‑specialist experience relevant to the post within NHS or comparable service.
    • Able to plan and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training relevant to this post.
    • Experience in clinical research and or service evaluation.
    • Evidence of achievement in education, research, audit and service improvement: awards, prizes, presentations and publications.
    • Has led clinical audits leading to service change.
